Dr. Edelman is a Professor Emeritus of Financial Economics at the American University in Washington, D.C. He served there as a Senior Professor with tenure and was Chairman of the Department of Finance and Real Estate. Formerly, he was the Director of Financial and Regulatory Research at Communications Satellite Corporation (COMSAT). He also served on the faculties of the University of Maryland and the University of Hawaii. He has received numerous research grants from these universities and has received awards for Professor of the Year for Outstanding Teaching and awards for Outstanding Scholarship, Research and Professional Contributions at the American University.

Courses taught at both the graduate and undergraduate levels include Managerial Finance, Investment Analysis, Cash Management, Advanced Financial Management and Public Utility Regulatory Economics.

Dr. Edelman has discussed financial and economic issues during appearances on NBC's Today Show, The NBC Nightly News, Fox Morning News, CBS News Nightwatch, National Public Radio's Morning Edition, ABC Radio Network News, CS Monitor Radio, WRC-TV, WUSA-TV and WTTG-TV (Washington, D.C.); Voice of America; WHUR, WWRC and WASH Radio (Washington D.C.); ABC's Perspective and the NBC/Mutual Radio Network News. He has taken questions from listeners on WAMU's Diane Rehm Show, Mike Cuthbert Show and Derek McGinty Show, (Washington, DC), WCCO (Minneapolis), KLBJ (Austin), KMOX (St. Louis) and WPBR (Palm Beach). He has been interviewed by Forbes, The Associated Press, Newsday, Business Week, The Washington Post, The Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, Hearst Newspapers and Yomiuri Shimbun (Tokyo).

His financial research has appeared in Financial Analysts Journal, Financial Review, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Portfolio Management, Financial Management, Journal of Finance, The Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, Public Utilities Fortnightly, Southern Business Review, Akron Business and Economic Review and others. He serves on the editorial review board of three academic journals and won the American Association of Individual Investors Award for Best Paper in Investments.

Dr. Edelman has presented papers before the Eastern, Southern, Midwestern, Southwestern and Western Finance Associations, the Financial Management Association and the American Institute of Decision Sciences. He is a financial advisor to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and has qualified as an expert witness before the United States Congress and in numerous jurisdictions including the U.S. District Courts for Maryland, the District of Columbia, the Eastern District of Virginia, the Bankruptcy Court in the Eastern District, D.C. Superior Court, Circuit Courts in Alexandria, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Montgomery, Prince Georges, Frederick, Washington (County), Calvert, Arlington and Fairfax, the New York Stock Exchange Arbitration Board and the American Arbitration Association. Testimony has been presented on many economic and financial issues including valuation of businesses and lost income determination for contract disputes, pension fund management, account churning, personal injury, wrongful death, divorce actions and bankruptcy cases. Dr. Edelman produced and presented a personal finance series on television news and served as an Advisor to the Hawaii State Legislature.

Dr. Edelman holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Financial Economics from the University of Maryland.
